With the intense summer heat of the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, most homes built here in the 1950s and 60s came with swimming pools. So, it is very common for us to work on new landscape design plans around those existing pools, as with this one here. With outdoor entertaining as a top priority for this new homeowner, we started the renovation by adding a central fire pit on a newly poured concrete patio near a built-in barbecue station. Next, we extended the roof off of the back of the garage to create a poolside cabana to enjoy the warm summer nights, made even more relaxing by a dramatically-lit fountain on the opposite side of the pool.
